Albino inland taipan3/2/2023 ![]() Remember Live and Let Die where James Bond makes his escape across the backs of three giant crocs? One of those crocs lives at Reptile Gardens a few exhibits down from an 8-foot endangered Komodo Dragon whose signage lists blood-curdling deaths (leaving nothing but mangled glasses or shoes) inflicted on some 20 victims over the last few years. There’s a giant albino python named Marilyn, a baby alligator named Fluffy, the only venomous Inland Taipan in the United States and a world renowned team of animal conservationists whose goal is to educate and protect the rare, unusual and beautiful reptiles that share our planet. It also has exotic bird shows, alligator wrestling, an Old West town and, with more than 225 species, more reptiles than any zoo in the world. Although common at zoos now, Reptile Gardens was the first in the country to try this unique approach. ![]() Today, on the very land where the United Nations almost set up shop, Reptile Gardens has a Sky Dome complete with a Safari room where guests can walk among cactus, exotic plants and free-roaming reptiles. By 1941, the business had 15 employees and was turning a handsome profit. He and some buddies built an 18 by 24-foot “zoo” at the top of a hill (they didn’t move to the proposed United Nations site until 1965) where, according to his son, Johnny, who still works at Reptile Gardens along with lots of other family members, cars would overheat.Īdmission back then was 10 cents for adults, 5 cents for children and on the first day of operation Reptile Gardens took in a grand total of $3.85. Heck, he’d even throw in some flowers and birds. Guests were so fascinated that it didn’t take the enterprising lad long to figure out that they’d probably also pay to see other reptiles. At the end of his tour, Earl Brockelsby would remove his giant Stetson and reveal a live diamond back rattlesnake coiled upon his head. Back in 1935, a 19-year-old rancher’s kid who loved snakes worked as a guide at another South Dakota tourist attraction. Of course, it’s had a good 10 years on the United Nations. Reptile Gardens, I’m happy to report, is probably making more headway in its mission, not to mention that it’s a lot more entertaining. More than a thousand snakes, ancient tortoises, 16-foot crocodiles and a fortune-telling chicken entertain the masses on the very land where Kofi Anan, Eleanor Roosevelt, Dag Hammarskjold and other UN delegates would have, in an alternate reality, beat their gavels. So now the UN’s 16,400 jobs, 400,000 tourists and $1.5 billion in annual revenue reside in New York.**Īnd that chosen land in the Black Hills? Well, it’s being used for an equally valuable purpose: to teach kids of all ages about reptiles and other animals. ponied up $8.5 million if they’d build it on the 18 acres along Manhattan’s East River. Murrow went so far as to suggest that the fresh air of the Black Hills would aid in clear thinking, definitely a plus for an organization designed to keep international peace.īut then, in a last minute bid, John D. ![]() Back in 1945, a valley just south of Rapid City made the short list for the headquarters of the newly-formed UN along with Geneva, Brussels, FDR’s family estate in Hyde Park and, of course, Manhattan where it was eventually built. Ironically, the United Nations itself almost took over the Black Hills. But then General George Custer found gold and well, in 1887 Congress passed a law that said, “Sorry, just kidding.” After all, UN fact finder James Anaya argued, an 1868 treaty did promise these sacred lands would forever remain in tribal hands. A United Nations report made waves last May for suggesting that South Dakota’s Black Hills should be returned to the Sioux.

Who are the bitcoin core developers3/1/2023 ![]() ![]() The divide has led over the last six months to death threats against Bitcoin developers and hacking attacks that have taken down Internet providers. The two camps have broadly painted each other as, on one side, populists who are focused on expanding Bitcoin’s commercial potential and, on the other side, elitists who are more concerned with protecting its status as a radical challenger to existing currencies. But it has exposed fundamental differences about the basic aims of the Bitcoin project, and how online communities should be governed. The dispute - which grew out of a question about the number of transactions the Bitcoin network can handle - may sound like something of interest only to the most die-hard techies. The impassioned blog post he was working on last week was an announcement that he was leaving Bitcoin behind entirely: “Bitcoin has gone from being a transparent and open community to one that is dominated by rampant censorship and attacks on bitcoiners by other bitcoiners.” Hearn, until recently one of the most prominent leaders of the Bitcoin project, became so disillusioned that in December he sold the few hundred Bitcoins he had left and quietly took a job at a new start-up. Online mbox to pst converter3/1/2023 ![]() This is not just a mail client, but a corporate organizer with tasks, contacts, calendars, and many more. Microsoft Outlook is a big and complex program. To use a different email client instead of Outlook, you need to convert your PST files to the format this program can use. No other email client works with this format. There are several reasons for PST2MBOX conversion: MBOX files do not contain folder structure, so each message folder is usually stored in a separate MBOX file. This format is used by popular mail apps: Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Eudora, Entourage, Postbox, PocoMail, Netscape, Spicebird, Claws Mail, Opera, PowerMail, Sylpheed, Evolution, SeaMonkey, Mulberry, GyazMail, Sparrow, Gnu, The Bat! and others. The MBOX email database format is used by mail systems for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Unix. By simply copying PST files, you can cause Outlook to malfunction. Therefore, when transferring data from PST to another location, it is necessary to properly process the information stored in them. For example, rules and alerts, view settings, or search folders. Besides, PST files store important additional properties of Outlook items and folders. All data can be located in folders of distinct types: mail, calendars, and others. Microsoft Outlook uses the PST file format to store its data such as messages, contacts, appointments and meetings, tasks, notes, documents, journal entries, etc. This utility converts email messages from PST data files into MBOX format compatible with many email programs and systems. The beauty of Soundbrenner is that you can connect five of these devices to a single smartphone, so you can essentially sync up an entire band who wants to play to the same tempo. These vibrations are strong too, meaning you’ll never miss a beat. You simply attach it your wrist, set the tempo and the rhythm by turning the “wheel” or tapping the face, and small vibrations will be sent through the device using pulsating technology. The Soundbrenner looks a lot like a wristwatch. How is that possible, you say? Let’s dig in. ![]() This one-of-a-kind device can help to improve your time-keeping without ever playing a single click. ![]() The Soundbrenner Pulse is easily the most innovative metronome available today. Yet it does come with your necessary headphone jack, and it is a durable, reliable device. ![]() Unfortunately, you don’t get any odd time signatures, and the click sound is incredibly annoying. It even comes with a handy little clip so that you can secure it to a music stand while you’re playing. At just over an ounce in weight, you can drop this thing in your pocket and forget that it is there. For starters, it is one of the most portable metronomes on this list. Lastly, the Boss DB-90 comes with a headphone jack, meaning you’ll be able to hear your metronome no matter how loud you play. Beginner drummers will love the rhythm coach option, which helps to zone in on any rhythmic problems you might be having. You’ll also have the ability to play along with different drum machine rhythm tracks with the built-in PCM system. Sounds weird, huh? Strangely enough, it is one of the most helpful “clicks” in there. The DB-90 comes with four different click options a well, one of which is a human voice. The beat control feature provides you with tons of different volume options for the beats within the device so that you can be more precise with your own playing while using it. The most outstanding feature on the DB-90 microphone is the beat control technology, which teaches players how to play off-beats, accented beats, and more. Start the Boss DB-90 up, and you’ll be greeted with a variety of high-quality features that will allow you to practice and perform with ease. Thank the drumming gods as getting ahold of a good metronome is not very difficult. You can’t expect to be a professional drummer in live situations if you’ve never experienced what it is like to play with an in-ear monitor that has a click running. The ability to follow a metronome is crucial when it comes to recording, but it’s also an invaluable skill when it comes to most modern performances where click tracks are used. If you’re a drummer and you can’t play to a metronome, then you have some serious work to do. It messes up the entire performance.Ī good drummer can put on an exciting and dynamic performance, all while being able to keep consistent time. You’ve likely been to live concerts where you’ve seen a drummer who just can’t seem to keep time. As a drummer, you provide the foundation for the rest of your band.
