Digikam face metadata3/4/2023 This is only a small folder, about 1500 photos, compared to my largest of over 10,000 which still worked fine. I have just finished my 16th folder, which has all of my photos tagged in DigiKam, so obviously on the database, but none of these tags have written to the metadata (I should have known there was a problem when there was no processing time taken to write tags to the photos). So far I have completed 15 folders with no hiccups, all tags I have created for each photo have been written to metadata and I can read these tags using software such as exiftool. I have 60 folders of photos that I am tagging in DigiKam. Exiv2 returns "Error: XMP Toolkit error 101: Schema namespace URI and prefix mismatch".Firstly, apologies if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find anyone else online with this EXACT issue. The KDE UserBase Wiki outlines the technique and procedure in several languages. Should indicate that there is a problem reading the data and an alternative is to have it overwritten. DigiKam will do face recognition of a single photograph so long as you have other ones of the same face with tags to use for reference. I do not expect that Digikam correct the convoluted XMP. The digiKam Database Introduction Technical Background and Configuration 2. A way to correct the convoluted XMP by having it being re-constructed using the exiftool command:Įxiftool Unreadable_XMP.jpg -xmp:all= -tagsfromfile -xmp:all The issue is quite annoying for users of the now un-supported Windows Photo Gallery. As described in the bug, at one point it would lead to a crash of Digikam. The issue is described in the exiv2 issue reported here. In a sense, it is valid XMP but it is very convoluted. In this particular case, the issue pertains to how the XMP was written. Example: "Invalid XMP data was found in file". For starters, digiKam’s main window features the dedicated Metadata sidebar which lets you view EXIF, Makernote, IPTC, and XMP metadata. I tagged a photo, saved the metadata to it and used exiftool to view the. For cases where there is an error reading metadata, notify/warn user with an error message displayed in the pane. Inside each digital photo hides metadata in the EXIF, IPTC, or XMP formats, and digiKam provides tools for viewing and editing this useful information. I did import my collection into digiKam, and all the faces I tagged in Elements. For Unreadable_XMP.jpg - no data is displayed on XMP Metadata tab, XMP data view is blank. For Readable_XMP.jpg - data is displayed on XMP Metadata tab. Click on files and view XMP metadata in the Metadata tab (located on the tab on the right and selecting XMP) When GP saw the 'new' photos, Google Drive started to back them up again and created a lot of duplicates in GP. If it hadn´t been for GP reading the changed photos as new photos that would have worked fine I guess. Being clever I tried to store the faces into the image metadata so that any computer could recognize the faces. You can right click on photo in the Information Panel and configure what info is displayed. Then the info was shown in the Dolphin Information Panel (F11). The metadata editor conveniently organizes all metadata into sections, making it easier to find and edit specific entries. To edit, for example, EXIF metadata, choose Image -> Metadata -> Edit EXIF. No error message is displayed when XMP is failed to be read from image file. digiKam offers metadata editing tools, too.
